Scott County Community Works March 2025 Newsletter

Scott County Community Works

What have we been up to?

Huge thanks to our CWorks volunteers that answered the call to help with AppCAA’s free tax prep program. Not only did you answer the call, but you made it possible to have a remote site in Dungannon. This service is available in Dungannon on Thursdays  through April 3. (See flyer below for details) Services are also available at AppCAA in Gate City Monday- Thursday. If you or someone you know could benefit from this free service, please call 276-885-0192 for details.

CWorks volunteers Peg Matthews and Beth Bingman are pictured here with Karen Davidson (AppCAA) at the remote tax prep site in Dungannon.

We Need Your Help!

We are still looking for volunteers to help with our community garden beds. As of now we have 2 raised beds. If there are any unclaimed beds we may add an additional bed. We could use 1-2 people who are willing to help with this project.

(Please fill out volunteer form below and indicate garden)

Gate City UMC youth are having a community clean up day on Saturday March 22nd. Please reach out if you would like to help assist these amazing youth with this project.

(See volunteer form below and indicate clean up)

Volunteer Spotlight

Community Works doesn’t work without our volunteers. This month I would like to recognize just a few.

Pat Kilgore (pictured w/ CWorks Local Coordinator Heather Vaughn) is not only part of our CWorks planning team, she is involved in most of our projects. She regularly volunteers at Crossroads Community Center.

Pictured here is Peg Matthews and Beth Bingman outside our remote site in Dungannon for AppCAA’s free tax prep service. They have also been involved in numerous other projects.

Susan McGriff is seen here loading weekend food bags for area students in her car. She along with 2 other CWorks volunteers assist with deliveries for Gate City UMC’s Snak Sak program.

Margaret Falin is an integral part of our CWorks planning team. She is pictured here volunteering with Christmas Cart.
